Joint meeting of Health Claims Forum & Association of Medical Underwriters

Non-disclosure – what’s needed – evolution or
revolution?

Dear Member

Our next meeting is a joint meeting between the
Association of Medical Underwriters and the Health
Claims Forum. It will be held on Thursday 3rd May
2007 at Balls Brothers in the London Underwriting
Centre, 1 Minster Pavement, Minster Court, London,
EC3R 7PP.

The theme for the day is Non-disclosure – what’s
needed - evolution or revolution? Non-disclosure
is one of the key issues for the industry and
underwriters and claims assessors in particular.
Our treatment of non-disclosure is criticised for
being too harsh and the Law Commission’s work
continues to suggest that radical reform may be on
the way.

We have lined up a number of key industry speakers
from the ABI, the Law Commission, the FOS,
insurers and reinsurers, who we have asked to
speak on various topics; please see the attached
agenda. We hope you will be able to join us for
what should be a thorough review of the current
situation as well as informed views on how it may
change.

For members of the Health Claims Forum expecting a
Back to Basics session, please be aware that the
Back to Basics event is due to take place on
Thursday 17th May 2007 and a separate invite will
be issued shortly.

We look forward to seeing you on the day.

Please return the reply slip in the Helpful
Information section as soon as possible to:-
Charlotte Jacobs, Swiss Re Life & Health, 7th
Floor, 30 St Mary Axe, London, EC3A 8EP.

NB - Cheques for £40 should be made payable to the
Association of Medical Underwriters. It us not
possible to book or pay jointly for this event and
the Back to Basics day.

Kind regards

Cathy Toomey, AMU & Peter Barrett, HCF
