Investigating CI/TPD claims in the new regime
Dear member
We are pleased to announce that the next meeting of the Health Claims Forum will be held on Thursday 18th September at the Mayfair Conference Centre, 17
Connaught Place, Marble Arch, London W2 2EL. Web-site: http://www.mayfairconference.com.
Annual General Meeting
We will be holding the AGM before the main forum at 09.45. Attendance is not compulsory however we would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend. We are hoping to undertake some new initiatives in the forthcoming months and will be explaining these at the meeting.
Annual subscriptions
It is also the time of year for annual subscriptions to be paid and the invoice for this is attached. Unfortunately we have had to increase the subscription this year, as explained in the invoice, but we hope that you believe that the forum remains good value. We should be grateful if subscriptions could be paid by 30 September 08.
Investigating CI/TPD claims in the new regime
The forum itself will be aimed at tackling some of the more challenging aspects of assessing CI/TPD claims. There will be a specific focus on the new ABI guidance, particularly with regards to establishing what is considered an "appropriate" level of medical evidence. The day will also cover retrospective underwriting, including red flags for the more common CI conditions and the interpretation of laboratory results. Dr Ian Baker will provide insight from a Consultant Neuropsychologist perspective, including the interpretation of reports, how to identify inconsistencies in reporting and how to establish the permanency of a deficit. We will also be providing an update on the current position of the TPD working party and encouraging an open discussion and exchanging of ideas around the future of this benefit which we hope everyone will participate fully in. The full agenda is attached.
The day is open to all members, but may be more suited to those with more experience. It will be interactive, with case study sessions following the presentations, and everyone will be encouraged to participate.
The cost of this forum is £80.
