The recent forum on financial aspects of IP highlighted many areas of confusion and inconsistencies in the way that companies handle financial assessments. Chief among these was the way in which Shared Liability is handled and calculated. We know this is a problem which has been been taxing the industry for some time and the Health Claims Forum has raised the issue with the ABI IP Working Party to consider any way of reaching consensus.
We are aware that there are good examples of shared liability calculators used by some members and we would like to make these available on the website to encourage the sharing of good practice. It would be up to companies to decide whether to adopt any of the examples.
